A Comedy Podcast About Creativity

A long time ago in youth shrouded in the fogs of war…wait, a youth shrouded in curiosity I wanted to be a stand-up comic. Years passed and my fears in balance with my ambition I did it.

It was OK. Neither bad but not great. I found I can stand alone on stage and try to make people laugh but I’ve never had the speed of thought; ideas and comebacks usually appear days later “Sigh!”

But I can write. You have time you see.

A Funny Podcast

That’s what we’re working at and although Mr b and me have produced the first season of six episodes it is very much a podcast in progress. Season 2 promises much and that is our goal, a funny podcast.

What makes a funny podcast? Well, it can be purely joke driven but we’re going down the route of the surreal and the daft. Read our reviews, people think it a bit bonkers (they’ve seen nothing yet) and appreciated the content about creativity. You see, we think that being funny is one thing but giving something of use along with the humour makes the whole effort worthwhile.

Now a Confession

I rarely make the time to listen to podcasts. I’ve been disappointed so many times with the talk – talk and the boredom of never getting to a point. I’m sure there are plenty of comedy podcasts to try. On my list:

That’s what we’re aiming for as why else bother. I have to up my performance and hosting skills to match my joint host Mr b (Barry to his family) and live up to his high production standards.

Jelly Trumpet Season 2

Season one is very much bedding in and learning how to write, produce and promote a comedy podcast. Season 2 is where it comes true.

Why?

Well, I’ve decided not to endlessly plan my writing but, instead, have fun. That fun comes from a blank sheet of paper and how to fill it with miraculous, daft, silly and fun ideas.

You see, someone mentioned a word concerning podcasts. That word was ‘vehicle’. Now that set off an idea. What if? That phrase is the most powerfully creative of phrases. What if Jelly Trumpet was a ‘vehicle’ and it took off, through time, space and media?’

BOOM!

Two Guys Because it’s a Habit

What if I brought a woman character into the mix? The reason it started as two guys is, well, we’re mates and we’re doing it for free. So, we had to find a character, well multiple characters and a performer who is a voice talent. I’m glad to say we found Claire.

The first episode of the second season lands Jelly Trumpet in medieval France. Who should we meet, that’s right, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine? Her majesty becomes one of the crew and thanks to Mr b experiments with time and his failure to make the right co-ordinates we never seem to be able to return to 1150 AD.

A Comedy Podcast of Surreal Bonkers Anything Can Happen

That almost sums up Jelly Trumpet. We also have guests from a variety of creative fields, some to do with digital marketing, others are from the pure creative arts, music, writing and acting.

So, it really is a bonkers vehicle that won’t waste your time.
