Jelly Trumpet, Your Comedy Podcast About Creativity

Welcome to Jelly Trumpet, a podcast dedicated to creativity. We offer ideas and tips on making the most of your creativity. We do this in a fun and very, very, very silly manner.
You Have to Work at YOUR Creativity
Reading about it is not enough. Working with it every day isn’t enough. You owe yourself and your audience to work at finding the best possible work.
It is graft. Jelly Trumpet is a fun way to learn about creativity and the show will challenge you to be the most creative you deserve to be. That’s a good thing. That’s a noble thing. That’s not a word we use very often, few seek to be noble. Being noble is a by-product of being the best.
You Are YOUR Own Medicine
This conceit runs through the whole of our podcast about creativity, season 1. What does it mean ‘you are your own medicine?’ It is simply keeping a journal. The journal records your creative world. The tips you find, a critic of your work, where you stick (and how you overcome it), other people’s ideas from reading online or workshops and seminars.
A Podcast About Creativity -The Treasure Chest
I’ve been using a medicine journal for many years. I wouldn’t be here without it. I’ve recorded all of the above and simple and more involved things.
Simple things like the music that puts me in the right frame of mind. More involved but simple is the use of the quota. I also found I love to build lists. I list different elements of my work, colours and those colours represent a charager, lists of iconic visual moments in movies.
Gene Perret was the chief writer for a famous comedian, Bob Hope. He writes about holding two or more ideas in your mind and ‘rubbing them together.’ I think many of us creatives do this naturally? Do you?
A journal will help you formalise some (not all) of your process and it will accelerate your creative endeavours.
Meet the Host
I’m Jim Kinloch, a digital marketing consultant and comedy writer. I’ve written for years. Plays, sitcoms, sketches and now a podcast. I use my writing skills, these days mainly, for clients wanting to succeed using online marketing.
Meet the Technical Wizard
Mr b, is our sound artist. I don’t use that term lightly. Listen to an episode of Jelly Trumpet and you will experience a surreal soundscape, the odd laser missile, a bongo playing squirrel, original music and tracks from his band ‘We Paint Houses.’
What is Jelly Trumpet About?
In a word creativity. In season 1 we talk a lot about you being your own medicine.
Essentially this idea is aimed at keeping a journal of your creative work. The journal, after a while, adds up into your own personal creativity coach. As only you can make yourself as creative as possible.

Guest Spot
Each episode features a guest from the creative world. We have, in season 1, a musician, an actor, a copywriter and creative content creators from the digital marketing world. What is fascinating is they all work differently and all have evolved their own work process.
Creative Heroes
This is where I, Jim, espouse on one of my creative heroes. Not just individuals like comedians and show runners but whole film studios. We need our icons; they give us comfort and direction. Inspiring people with our work is a must at any time. How are you at inspiring others?
Challenge Jim
This can go badly wrong. Mr b issues me a creative challenge each episode. The challenge is time limited.
