Series Logline

A high-concept scripted comedy podcast blending British absurdism, time-travel farce and satirical alt-history storytelling.

The Premise

A podcast is a vehicle and this podcast can travel anywhere thanks to two factors. One main character is a forgetful writer who truly believes the podcast script is writing itself. The other main character is a compulsive inventor always tinkering with ideas and various buttons, steam, solar power and the feather of a gull that send Jelly Trumpet into further adventures.

Jelly Trumpet reflects chaos instead of adhering to the usual namby-pamby structure and rules of comedy. 🙂

Influenced by:

  • Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
  • Monty Python’s Flying Circus
  • The Mighty Boosh
  • Bob Mortimer
  • Blackadder

The World of Jelly Trumpet

The series exists in a reality where:

We can land anywhere. Not just a well-known historical period but also the present day like a bullet train in Korea or a made-up country like Gootania in the Balkans (bought by Elton MuskOx to mine and own all the data in the world).

We have animals with skills like the tenor sax playing Nigel, a giant Red Squirrel from the Balkans. We can land inside a Japanese Anime game one episode, the next in a medieval castle in Lichenstein.

Rules and conventions are played with, like The Podcast Authority’s insistence that all podcasts must contain a mime artist or living statue (to keep them off the street).

We have a lifesaving device, cMac, created by Mr b for various tasks from the podcast coffee machine.

Time Travel Rules

Nine times out of ten the podcast lands in the wrong place at the wrong time

Mr b gets his buttons mixed up so time accidents reoccur

We hope you enjoy Jelly Trumpet as much as we enjoy making it,

Jim, Mr b and Claire
